If you've never tried biltong, you're in for a revelation. Unlike beef jerky, which is cooked at high heat, biltong is air-dried at room temperature over 7 to 10 days using salt, vinegar, and traditional spices like coriander. The result is a tender, deeply flavoured meat snack with protein and less sodium than most jerky.
Biltong has been a staple in South Africa for centuries, and at Bokkie's we've been brining that tradition to Canada since 2011, made fresh right here in our Barrie butcher shop.

Yes, we ship across Canada from our Barrie, Ontario base. We offer a flat shipping rate of $15 within Ontario, and $20–$30 for destinations outside Ontario. Biltong travels well because it is a cured, air-dried product, no refrigeration needed. Most orders arrive within 3-7 business days depending on your province.
Is Bokkie's Biltong made in Canada or imported?
Our biltong is made right here in Barrie, Ontario using AAA-grade, hormone free, GMO-free beef sourced from local Ontario farms. The recipe and techniques are authentically South African, the same coriander, vinegar, and spice tradition brought over from Limpopo, but every batch is handcrafted in Canada. You get the real thing, fresh, without waiting for an import.
